ABOUT

US.

Grace Community Kitchen is a community wide endeavor to provide food and companionship for those in need in the area. Seven local churches provide assistance in this collaborative outreach, housed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Vermilion, Ohio.

Grace’s Kitchen has recently become Grace Community Kitchen, a 501 (c) 3 charity reorganized from the previous charity. Previous management came under Grace Methodist Church in Vermilion Ohio. In September of 2018 it was decided by their board to divest of this ministry and to aid in a non-ecumenical community outreach. As such, the charity has been reorganized and is locally, state and federally recognized and approved. Grace Community Kitchen has a board of community volunteers with hearts for the hungry, lonely and poor living in our extended community. Grace Community Kitchen offers a free service and is open to all who walk through our doors. Our mission is to provide food that has nutritional value. We provide balanced meals for in-house guests and offer much needed take-home meals for the weekend.

The Kitchen is also an agency of Second Harvest, part of the federal program of Feeding America. This standing has provided access to free or very low cost meats, produce, and staples. We are dependent on Second Harvest to be able to provide our evening dinners. Currently, Grace Kitchen serves an average of over 1,100 meals monthly, and the need is ever growing.

The following churches and groups provide support: Bill Mills Bible Study Group; Grace Methodist; Hands On Volunteer Group; Lakeview Baptist; St. Mary Catholic Parish; Trinity Lutheran; United Church of Christ, Congregational; and Vermilion E&R. Meals are served on Tuesday and Thursday evenings throughout the month and are prepared by the churches on a rotating basis. Thanks to these great volunteers and donations Grace’s Community Kitchen is able to provide a full nutritional meal free of charge for an average of $1.50 per person, making your donations count.
